- Republicrats (ri-puhb-li-kratz)
Republicans
and Democrats. Many people in the US believe there is a
huge difference between Republicans and Democrats. The
truth is that both tend to increase the size of government.
Republicans may cut your taxes and increase spending, thereby
increasing the deficit. Democrats increase your taxes
and increase spending, but cut the deficit. Sometimes
(like now),
we're very unlucky and they increase spending and increase the
deficit. Did you notice I did not mention "cut
spending" anywhere? Which party will actually cut
government spending and shrink the size of government? Neither. Therefore, we are
governed by Republicrats.

- The American people are duped into
thinking that one of the political parties is good and the
other is evil, when neither party is serving our country's
best interest. People are wasting their time complaining
about the other party -- whatever that complaint may be.
In the mean time, most of the legislators continue with their
same old stuff, where the lobbyists call the shots, the
American people are ignored, and hard-earned tax dollars are
lost to wasteful, irresponsible spending.
Here's Glenn
Beck's explanation of Left vs. Right
Democrats vs. Republicans.
Take a look at what he says in the last 2 minutes:

- Pork / earmarks in bills.
Politicians may not like a particular bill that comes before
them. They are, in essence, "bribed" into voting for a
particular bill, by adding some pork spending or earmark (aka
"special project") that goes to their district or State.
|
- Multi-purpose bills: When
bills are drafted by Congress, there are hundred or thousands
of projects with hundreds or thousands of earmarks in them. Our
government should use the divide and conquer method by having
a bill that addresses one and only one issue; with no
earmarks, pork, or special projects attached to it.
|
- Something for nothing: Most of
the people in this country are honest, hard-working
individuals. Unfortunately, there are many people who
want something for nothing. Some well-intentioned
programs by the government are abused by those who take
advantage of the system. CEOs taking bonuses with bank
bailout money is one example.
|
- Too much green talk: OK.
The earth was getting warmer for a period, but science has not
proven that it is due to Carbon emissions. It may just
be a cycle. We've had a couple really cold years
recently. I think we're overdoing this "green" stuff,
and it's hurting our country -- not helping it. FYI - I
did change many of our light bulbs to the compact fluorescent
ones. Seemed like a good idea because they save energy
and money, but be careful not to break them. Here's the
EPA's guidelines on steps for clean up and disposal of Compact
Fluorescent Light Bulbs.
|
- Health Care: Too much focus on
nationalizing health care. We should forget nationalized
health care. We can't afford it, and we would not like
the degraded services that would be associated with it.
Hawaii tried it and it did not work. As soon as they
developed a plan to help the uninsured, the businesses paying
for health care for their employees canceled their policies
and the system was overloaded. Hawaii canceled their
universal coverage plan.
|
- Campaign promises. Why does
anybody believe anything a politician says when they are running for office? Why aren't campaign promises kept
after the politician is elected? Where's the media???
|
- Speaking of the media. Why the
media bias? What's in it, for them???

Dr. Walter E. Williams of George Mason University writes:
"As my colleague Dr. Thomas Sowell suggested in a recent
column, we don't look to arsonists to put out fires that
they've created; neither should we look to Congress to solve
the problems they've created."
Asking Congress to fix our economy is like hiring the
arsonists to put out the fire. Think about it!
